At A Glance: Shoot Locations With Pianos
We reckon there's something about a piano that changes the feel of a room. It brings a vibe of elegance, a sense of occasion, and if needed, just a hint of drama. If you’re shooting a moody monologue, a music video, or a slow Sunday morning scene, a piano in the right place can say a lot without anyone playing a note. (We can't speak for your team during breaks in filming though) Here's a list of some of our favourite shoot locations with pianos, and remember you can always ask for help if these aren't striking a chord for you...
Bishops Walk
Kicking off the list is an incredible mock Tudor manor house, with buckets of glamour and glitz throughout. Bishop’s Walk is a shoot location with not just a piano, but also a swimming pool, hot tub, chandeliers and an indoor bar amongst other things. We think it’s best suited for feature films, Bollywood, documentaries, editorials, advertising filming and stills
Burcote House
This Edwardian house shoot location has a grand piano that looks out to the huge patio area and stepped garden with an outdoor, glass roofed seating area. With five bedrooms, three bathrooms and a separate room for shoots to have tea, coffee and production area, it’s a good spot for editorials, TVC filming, social media filming and interviews. College Road
A versatile choice for stills, film and content shoots that need a bold, contemporary backdrop, this location property brings space, style and flexibility. Oh, and a grand piano. There’s a massive garden with a hot tub, and a separate guest annexe that’s ideal for crew set-up or extra scenes. If you’ve got a brief involving large scale filming, Bollywood, drama filming, social filming, or music videos this could hit the right note. (See what we did there?)
Hackney House
If you’re looking for a film location with a music studio, we’ve got you covered. This is a contemporary home in Hackney with rough-sewn oak and raw plaster walls. The minimalist, wood aesthetic is warm and Scandinavian inspired. This would be a wonderful choice for lifestyle shoots, feature films, commercial filming, fashion and wellness stills.
Jacobean Manor
If you need a shoot location that ticks all the boxes as a period property with a piano, you’d be hard pressed to find one to beat this! The manor is a unique, U shaped property set in 15 acres of land. It has a huge amount of onsite parking, a pool house for crew access and offers shoot and stay. Which wing is the piano room in, though? You’d have to ask one of the servants we imagine working here.
Kirkstall House
How about a Victorian home in London, with a wooden grand piano in the front sitting room. All casual, like. there’s also a hot tub on the patio, if your character likes to unwind that way after sessioning the Beethoven. Manor View
An incredible detached Victorian Manor House. This shoot location has an outdoor swimming pool, sloped garden and stunning views over the south downs. Spacious with an open plan kitchen, dining and sitting room overlooking the swimming pool and gardens. It has eight bedrooms, seven bathrooms, a cinema room, a basement dining room and a folly.
Semara
Finishing off the list we have a bright modern family home just outside of London, with an open plan ground floor with an artist studio, a music room and large patio and garden. Ideal for TVC filming, home and lifestyle shoots, wellness retreats, social filming and stills photography. Come for the floor-to-ceiling glass windows, stay for the exposed brick walls.
