At a Glance: Large Filming Locations

Berry’s Maple is a late 16th century building with a half acre formal garden with a swimming pool, a pool house, a stable yard, fields and paddocks. The main building is attached to a converted barn with oak beams and a wooden kitchen floor. This is definitely one of our large filming locations as it has ample space and parking for larger and longer projects. The valley views are pretty nice too!

A detached, Victorian country house with large sash windows, grand fireplaces and high ceilings, and so much presence in each room. There is plenty of space for filming with various outbuildings, a swimming pool, paddocks and lake. If you can’t face doing a recce on the 12 acres of grands, the good news is that you can bring the chopper, as they have a helicopter pad.

Set in Dulwich, this location property has space, style and flexibility. A double-height entrance leads into large, light-filled rooms. The huge open-plan kitchen has clean lines and plenty of space to work. There’s a grand piano, a massive garden with a hot tub, and a separate guest annexe that’s ideal for crew set-up or extra scenes. The house is also accessible, with a ground floor loo and easy access points throughout.

A huge and bright location house with a terraced garden and a wide variety of rooms for filming. The open plan kitchen and dining room opens out onto a generous terrace that overlooks the large, green garden. Downstairs, a basement cinema and snooker room add even more flexibility for different shoot setups. Pretty iconic.

Drewstead has a wide and light open plan kitchen/living/dining space, abundant natural light, and impossibly chic French sliding doors. We didn’t think we’d describe sliding doors as chic, but this is the life we’re living. The concrete flooring gives the overall aesthetic a warm industrial feel.

Is it possible to NOT have a shoot location called Grand Country House on a list of large filming locations? No, no it’s not. Located one hour from London, it has a private drive and 3.5 acres of formal gardens. There are six bedroom suites, a tennis court, heated pool, fire pits, a barbecue cabin, and an extra large trampoline. (For emergencies, we can only guess). This spot is ideal for large film shoots and over night stays.

An incredible, Grade II Listed Medieval Manor House. If we had to pick our favourite elements from this location, the turret reading room is way up there. Or the 4-poster beds. The extensive grounds are also just wonderful. Really, it’s a good thing this list is alphabetical as this is a very hard act to follow.

With immaculate views, a walled garden paddock, and possibly one of the best staircases in our location library, Taitlands is a great finish to this list of large filming locations. With a coach house, a self contained cottage and even an Aga, if you’re not shooting your period piece here, what are you even doing with your brief?!
